Citing Charles’ unswerving enthusiasm and perseverance, Mr Wright said: “This award is made to the man or woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the poultry sector over and above the normal call of duty in recent years. For his passion about the quality of British chicken and for tireless work in the promotion of those qualities through British Chicken Marketing, Charles Bourns richly deserves the BPF/BOCM PAULS Man of the Year Award”. The BPC Chairman reminded delegates that from the earliest discussions between BPC and the NFU about the British Chicken Marketing concept, Charles had been a driving force, working to forge a strong identity for British chicken with retailers and consumers, based on the Assured Chicken Production standards under the Red Tractor logo. Commenting further Ted said: “Charles’s contribution is recognised and applauded by his peers and friends across the poultry industry with this award”. -ENDS- Notes-to-Editors: • This Award is regarded as the industry’s highest award and the winner must be of exceptional calibre and who have made an outstanding contribution to the Poultry Industry, eggs and poultry meat, over and above the normal call of duty within the recent past.
