BPC - mission Print this page

free range houseThe British Poultry Council is the Voice of the Poultry Meat Sector. As the only trade association for producers of poultry meat and products we are the key link between our Member Companies, and Government and Stakeholders.

By representing our Members’ views to all levels of Government we are first and foremost promoting the interests of British poultry breeders, farmers, and processors.

An essential part of our work is to ensure the practical implementation and equal enforcement of UK and EU legislation, and to press for change where change is needed. Our efforts on monitoring proposals for new legislation supports our drive for a science-based and cost-effective approach to Regulation.

Our work in the fields of bird health and welfare, and food safety is at the forefront of technical knowledge; and drives best practice throughout the poultry industry.

A key part of our work is providing a point of contact to Stakeholders and the Media. Our offices have become the primary port-of-call for those who want clear and up-to-date information on all aspects of poultry.

Our influence extends to the European level. Through membership of the EU-wide trade body, AVEC, and the International Poultry Council (IPC) we are promoting British poultry on a broad scale.

We promote quality British poultry as a sustainable industry through the use of best practice and open communication. We think we’re succeeding, and hope this website gives a brief insight into our work.
